Changing Trends in iOS Application Development

Apple is entering exciting and turbulent times and iOS for mobile and other digital devices is no exception. The giant computer company from Cupertino is taking up the fight against the Android apps system.

Apple appears determined to retain its position as a leading maker of consumer hardware, even as the definition of what that hardware is changing so rapidly. Devices from iPad to Watch Series 2 will be more versatile because of the digital apps that developers are now testing or will invent in the coming months.

IoT and iOS

The Internet of Things and Cloud Computing are teaming up to deliver Big Data and computing power more cheaply than ever before. In 2017, Apple iOS developers will release new applications that leverage GPS, iBeacons, the IoT, and cloud architectures. Developers will create apps connected by HomeKit in competition with Android from Google.

Wearables, such as the Apple Watch and the extended ecosystem of things on the IoT will merge with networks to deliver fast, inexpensive solutions to consumers and enterprise users.

Location, Location, and Geolocation

The arrival of the Apple Watch 2 has brought capabilities that are more in line with consumer expectations of what a wearable device should do. Recently, there were ten thousand apps for the Apple Watch, and that number is growing rapidly. It now has built-in Beacons and GPS so that companies can capture location data that creates insights and turns it into business intelligence about the activities of users.

Companies will develop apps to drive content based on the location and movement of customers. Knowing where your users are and how they interact in environments is just useful to app designers, and it offers brands information about how customers move through and experience showrooms, events, or other spaces.

Plugging Into Augmented Reality

New augmented reality (AR) apps will launch on iOS that have the ability to superpose digital content into the real world. Multiple users will be able to share experiences that only members can see. The merging of the virtual and real worlds offers the possibility of app-based cyber cultures that users will have to join to experience.

Enterprise On iOS

Enterprise represents exciting opportunities that go beyond consumers. More transactions take place via mobile devices, which warrants shifting m-business investment from the web to iOS platforms.

The growing preeminence of mobile devices combined with the roll out of beacons will drive iOS application development and how consumers use mobile. This recipe means that innovative combinations of location and e-commerce will drive growth and bring exciting and unexpected applications to market in the next few months.

The Swift Programming Language

The Swift programming language has become open source with the introduction of version 3; it will help facilitate app development. Many Apple developers have already moved away from Objective-C for the new language. Swift is developer-ready and easy to implement; it has grown beyond iOS to become the preferred language for programming applications for watchOS and tvOS.

Cyber security is a significant threat to the expansion of iOS. If the events of 2016 show anything it is that every new application must treat security seriously. Criminals have exploited the general lack of security-consciousness of developers recently with spectacular results. Expect to see higher levels of security going forward, particularly with the next iteration that comes out in iOS 10. Android and iOS will continue to compete vigorously in the near future.

Apple software framework will serve the company’s hardware to provide appealing and useful apps that build on the new technologies. Whether augmented reality, eCommerce, IoT, or the Cloud, they will bring some game-changing breakthroughs, we have yet to see.
